As part of the ResMed AirFit Series, the AirFit F20 is an ultra-comfortable and highly therapy compliant mask. When comparing airfit F20 vs F10 we can say the shape of both masks is quite similar. AirFit F20 offers an open field of view, which makes it easy for patients to read or watch TV comfortably without having to adjust the mask or the frame. ResMed also added extra padding to the F20 face mask frame and headgear in order to improve comfort. The mask is also equipped with innovative technology InfinitySeal full face cushioning. The cushion begins at the nasal bridge and adjusts below the mouth. This helps ensuring comfortable CPAP therapy both to the mouth and the nose.

- Open field of vision
- Full face cushion for better therapy acceptance
- Headgear + magnetic clips
- Quick release elbow for added convenience
- Air diffuser
- Several sizes of headgear you can choose from
As you can note by comparing resmed F20 vs F10 many features are similar but the F20 is much more innovative, comfortable and therapy compliant mask. Even patients who need to use CPAP therapy for the first time will become quickly compliant with new therapy thanks to this comfortable mask.
Maximum visibility design
The design of the Airfit F20 allows for the mask to cover up both the mouth and the nose without the need of adding a forehead support. The frame of the mask basically sits low beneath the eyes while at the same time arises above the ears, something similar to a “winged” comfort design. The head of the patient is covered by a minimalistic amount of fabric because the mask frame connects with the headgear at the ears.
Thanks to this innovative and special design, both the mask and the headgear part sit in place without additional accessories such as a plastic frame of the support part. This open range of visibility is very much enjoyed by patients who struggle with claustrophobia or those who like to have an open field of vision during therapy for watching TV reading, writing, etc. In order to find the perfect fit for yourself, you should carefully analyze the AirFit F20 sizing guide offered by the manufacturer.
Several sizes of headgear available
In order to help provide each patient with a personalized fit and comfort, ResMed releases onto the market three different headgear sizes compatible with the AirFit F20 mask. Please keep in mind that when you purchase the mask, only the Standard size headgear is included. If you need a different size, you need to purchase the respective headgear size separately. The three available headgear sizes are as follows: the Standard included in the purchase kit, Small and Large sizes available separately.

Best features of the AirFit F20 full face mask by ResMed
The first and most important feature is visual freedom. The mask allows patients to see everything in front of them, thanks to the low sitting frame. This ensures minimal facial contact, no more red marks and irritations and maximum stability at the same time. The headgear is not a rigid part of the mask anymore, but a flexible and soft component that adds to the stability and comfort during therapy. The headgear is also fitted with plush straps which further add to the comfort feeling during CPAP therapy.
The ResMed AirFit F20 cushion is an innovative and highly comfortable part of the mask. Covering both the nose and the mouth, the cushion ensures stability and comfort during therapy. Thanks to the magnetic clips, taking the mask off or putting it on is done in a matter of seconds. With fast fitting times, it is further ensured that patients become quicker compliant with necessary therapy. Also the quick release elbow means patients can take off the mask with a click during the night. Greater freedom of movement is further ensured by the 360 degrees rotating elbow.
It is important to mention that the ResMed AirFit F20 Full Face mask is compatible with any BiPAP/ CPAP machine. You can easily connect the mask to any type of tubing, and you do not need any adaptors.
AirFit F20 for Her
ResMed also offers the special AirFit F20 full face mask for Her. The mask is designed with all the comfort and stability features of the F20 line of masks. However, this mask features technology that suits the finer facial structures of a woman. InfinitySeal, adaptive wings, contoured chin region, soft nasal bridge, and polished silicone finish are only a few of the outstanding features of the F20 for Her mask.
This range of masks is dedicated specifically to women, in order to offer them a more personalized fit mask that is capable of adapting to the unique facial features of women.

John, I am not with ResMed I only have sold their products for 20+ years. I am the owner of SleepRestfully.com, an internet based business that sells sleep therapy and oxygen therapy equipment and supplies. You should check out our website.
To answer your question I believe you may be using the incorrect size mask. What you are describing is not normal with that mask if fitted properly. I would have it double checked.

Charles, I have been getting better results in the last two weeks with the F20, getting consistent scores in the 80’s. how do I know if I have a proper fit?
JOHN YORSKY
Charles, will the F20 work with a full beard?
Eric Dyer
I have a beard and I use this and it works fine for me. I got my CPAP about a year ago and this was what they had with it, so I can’t compare how it is with any other styles, but I grow out my beard for about 6 months before I shave it all off and it seems to be fine for me. It does leak a little more when I’m not shaved but the leak test doesn’t fail. The problem I have more often is when I roll over on my side and the mask gets pushed by the pillow, not so much the beard.

Just received my F20 through the VA. I have been using nose pillows and full nose device, Resmed, and leaking has been ongoing problem, I put the F20 together and put my machine on leak test, and air was leaking above the eyes quite a bit, and air was blowing up my cheeks through the mouth, is this normal.
thanks John Disabled Vet….FYI Charles are you an engineer with Resmed?

I am a side sleeper as well. I don’t like the F20. While the cushion is comfortable the design is too busy and not as secure as the F10.
Brandon Richardson
I was worried from switching from a nose pillow back to a full face mask. The f20 is a great and comfortable mask un like others full face mask. I love mine and will be sticking with it. Don’t even miss my nose pillow.
Rob Gilchuk
I doubt this is a one time only problem. I too have had mine tear (at the nose) after 2.5 months. I have been using cpap for over 8 years with no problems of tearing on any of the other masks. I treat it very daintily when cleaning and only tighten it down enough to make to make a proper seal at 12 pounds of air. I was reading up on it and it is suggested that the cushion part be replaced every 30 days. This is the best fitting mask i have owned but most surely can’t afford that. So whats up, and lets be honest now.
Charles Goldberg
You cannot replace an F10 cushion with an F20 cushion. The mask frame is not compatible.
Russ
Can I just replace my the f10 cushion with the f20 cushion and still us the f10 headgear and mask?
Charles Goldberg
We believe the ResMed AirFit F20 is the best full face CPAP mask to ever come to market. A tear usually results if you are wearing it to tight or when cleaning you are not careful. Out of all of the Airfit F20 cushions we have sold I have only seen this happen onetime and the man admitted that he was not gentle with the cushion.

The foam has ripped on all 3 that I’ve had. The last one ripped at day 4. I tried super-gluing the other 2, but then had to put a cotton ball in it to keep it from scratching. My insurance pays for 1 every 30 days, so I have to work with what I have. My air pressure is high at 20/16, so I’m sure I’m pushing it down while I sleep because it leaks so bad at the bridge that I push it down in the night to get it to quit blowing air in my eyes. It also rides up my face to where I can feel the mask on my eyelashes! My nightly stats indicate I am having a lot of leaking. It is the most comfortable mask I’ve tried, but I’m going to have to keep looking. Unfortunately, the way insurance works, I’m stuck for 6 months, then only get to pick one other to try for another 6 months. Seems there would be a way for patients to be able to try any mask for 7 days, and another for 7 days, and on and on until they find one they actually like, it lasts, it doesn’t leak, etc.

New cpap user here. I find that I don’t like the way this mask rides on my nose, but I’m sure it’s just me. I am very disappointed in the seal material used. It’s very thin. After using it for just under a month, the seal has torn at the nose area. No idea how it ripped. I’ll be trying the nasal pillows next.

Same issue here – tore after just over one month. Any ideas or suggestions from Resmed?
