3B Medical has recently launched a CPAP & accessories cleaner that uses UV light to clean and disinfect these personal items. The cleaner allows you to introduce the mask or the water humidifier chamber into the cleaner’s drawer and within 5 minutes the Lumin perfectly disinfects the items. The Lumin is also perfect for disinfecting other personal hygiene items such as the nebulizer, a hearing aid, or kid’s toys and accessories.
- A quick & safe cleaning method for your CPAP & accessories
- Kills 99% of the bacteria, viruses, and fungus that might be present on the surface of your mask or water chamber
- Much safer and more effective sanitation methods than the harsh chemical-based cleaning methods
- No replacement items needed- other types of sanitizers require a filter or accessory changes after a period of time
- User-friendly & stylish design- blends nicely into any environment
Efficient UV Light Sanitizes Safely your Equipment
The Lumin CPAP cleaner uses safe UV light to get rid of all the pathogens and bacteria that are present on the items you place into the cleaner’s drawer. UV light is a widely used sanitation method in hospital environments and sterile places. The UV light is the safest alternative to other disinfection methods that involve high hazard chemicals. In order to ensure maximum safety, the Lumin will shut off automatically whenever the drawer is opened- in order to protect against exposure to UV light.
Sanitation process takes only 5 minutes
The Lumin CPAP cleaner will efficiently sanitize all your required items within 5 minutes. When you take them out of the drawer, you can immediately use them. There is no need to allow the items to dry, or wait half an hour until you can safely use your equipment. When the cleaner signals the end of the sanitation cycle, simply take out your items from the tray and enjoy high-quality therapy at any moment.
Sanitizing Non-CPAP Items
The best thing about the Lumin is that you can use it to sanitize other items than your CPAP equipment- a toothbrush, a hearing aid, your dentures or a child’s toy. You can use the sanitizer to disinfect any required item that safely fits into the drawer of the cleaner. Using your sanitizer on a regular basis will ensure that you or your family members use personal hygiene items that are free from harmful pathogens.
Literally, no maintenance needed
Most of the similar cleaners on the market will require regular maintenance and some replacement parts. This means you need to continually invest in your device, but the Lumin requires none of these. You only have to make a one-time investment – the cost of the device- and that’s it. There is no need to buy spare filters, or change bulbs with the Lumin CPAP cleaner.
Main Product Specifications
The Lumin CPAP cleaner weighs about 5.5lbs and its measurements are 12.25”L x 8.5”W x 7.75H. As you can easily note, the cleaner will fit nicely on your nightstand or in the bathroom. You can place it anywhere, as it takes up little space and it has an unobtrusive design making it blend well with any ambiance.
Environmental conditions for the Lumin CPAP cleaner:
- Storage temperature: 0 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit
- Operating temperatures: 20 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Humidity levels: up to 93% non-condensing
Important Highlights
- It is important to keep in mind that the sanitizer cannot remove dirt and debris from the surface of your items. It will kill all the bacteria and fungi residing on the surface, but you need to manually clean the debris from the surface of your mask, water chamber, etc.
- Lumin sanitizes the surface of the items – this means the sanitizer cannot disinfect the insides of your tubing system for example. It will also not sanitize the insides of your nasal pillows. You need to clean/sanitize these items manually because the Lumin will disinfect them only on the outer surface
- The tray inside the Lumin CPAP cleaner is aluminum coated. Whenever this tray requires cleaning, you just need to carefully wipe it with a soft damp cloth to remove any dirt particles from its surface. Never use harsh chemicals such as abrasive detergents to clean the tray or the outer body of the Lumin. Always use a soft cotton cloth.
- Do not use the Lumin near water sources. Keep away from the reach of children.
- Make sure you will not stack any items on your Lumin device.
- When the drawer is open, you cannot operate the Lumin device. It automatically shuts off the UV light when the drawer is opened
The Lumin sanitizer is a smart investment for anyone who needs to maintain CPAP equipment clean and sanitized. The device comes with an acceptable price tag, it is easy to operate and requires no maintenance whatsoever.

No it does not. You would need to use the Bullet in combination with the lumin to accomplish that.

How about a simple yes or no: Does this machine sanitize the INSIDE of the hose?
srb-admin
The best cleaner is the one you are comfortable with. Both machines are very good and in case studies both machines clean 99.9% of the germs. I prefer the SoClean. With the Lumin you cannot put you hose into the cleaner so therefore you have to buy the “Bullet” which is just to clean the hose or do it manually.

Well the more research I put into this thing about Ozone and UV its becoming a no brainier. Ozone is not a good thing. Not good for people, pets etc. I use Virtu Clean and when using you do smell the ozone as does the pets I have. Its not alot of ozone but it still not good for us. And as I continue to look into this, they say it is not even doing what it supposed to do because you need alot of Ozone to do what they say it does and that amount is REALLY BAD for us !! This is crazy stuff. We know UV is much safer (don’t look at it) and it does do what we want it todo. Yes the Lumin does not totally do what the So Clean 2 claims to do with the hose. So what. Buy the Bullet. Its still cheaper then the So Clean 2 and the issues about the Ozone ? Don’t want to find out down the road that , Oh yes, its Bad for us. I am 99% sure I’m going to buy the Lumin with the bullet shortly. If anybody can prove to me that any of the cleaners that use Ozone to do the cleaning that it does CLEAN and is SAFE, I’m going with UV cleaning (Lumin) !

I have read pros & cons for SOClean and Lumin UV Cleaner. Is there an easier way to determine which CPAP Cleaner is the all-around best? Or should I just continue to manually clean?

I have a hand held USB UV sanitizer. When I hold it up to my hose, this weak light shines all the way through. The light is what disinfects, ergo my hose can be disinfected with UV. Suggest you try the same. This is just a cheap universal replacement hose, made of wire and translucent plastic. 3b has a research paper that explains how this works. Heated hoses are different. As the consumer, it is your responsibility to test your hose, since no one else is doing it. Also, you should wash or replace your hose monthly to clean out debris. For me, washing hoses daily is not practical unless you use a hose dryer. Either Lumen device is cheaper. If you have a strong immune system, periodic washing but not sterilization is all that is needed.

People ca say a lot of things but that does not make it so. Sounds to me like you are dealing with a provider who is not knowledgeable or just does not want to stand y the manufacturer warranty. The Ozone from the SoClean NEVER comes in contact with any electrical parts and if it did it would not do harm. Hold the dealer to task!!!!
Adam
Received an e-mail from CPAP manufacturer that the use of an OZONE cleaning device will void their warranty.
Charles Goldberg
You are partially correct. A letter was put out by ResMed concerning Ozone and your CPAP machine. The only cleaner that is effected is the SoClean as it is the only cleaned that the machine is connected to the cleaner. On all other Ozone cleaners you place the mask, tube and water chamber in a bag to clean, never connecting the CPAP to the cleaner. Therefore, only SoClean is an issue. In addition the Lumin is not an Ozone cleaner it used UV to clean the CPAP parts.

the ozone ruins the seals!
Charles Goldberg
It has not been release by #B products as of yet. Like you we are looking forward to it.
Charles Goldberg
See the previous reply. Thank you.

The Lumin is not able to state it can clean the hose as there are so many hoses on the market and not all are translucent. That being said 3B Products the manufacturer of the Cumin has an add on product called the Bullet which will be release in the next couple weeks to clean the hose with or without the Lumin CPAP Sanitizer. For people not hot about using an ozone cleaner the Lumin is a great alternative.
