AirMini CPAP indications of use
So, what does the AirMini look like? As you can see from the Resmed Airmini Photo this is indeed the smallest CPAP in the world. The AirMini by ResMed is a self-adjusting system which is suitable for the treatment of OSA-Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The machine is suitable for both home use and use in a clinical environment. The AirMini system includes the following items and setup packs:
- AirMini machine, power supply unit, carry case + one of the following packs:
- The F20 AirMini setup pack- compatible air tubing, F20 connector or
- The N20 AirMini setup pack: compatible air tubing, the N20 connector, HumidX & HumidX Plus waterless humidification capsules or
- The P10 AirMini setup pack- which includes compatible air tubing the AirFit P10 for AirMini mask, P10 mask cushion, HumidX & HumidX Plus waterless humidification systems, and the AirFit P10 headgear clips. Please keep in mind that the P10 setup pack is the only pack including a mask.
HumidX & HumidX Plus humidifier systems for AirMini
HumidX and HumidX Plus are waterless humidifiers. The HumidX is suitable for humidification in average climate conditions, while the Plus version is suitable for humidification in dry climates (such as in an aircraft cabin). The systems are designed so as to offer higher comfort levels by balancing the moisture content of the air you breathe. The humidifiers also provide relief from dryness complications.
When the ambient humidity levels are very low, the use of the HumidX Plus is highly recommended. For example, HumidX Plus needs to be used in an aircraft or at high altitudes. For all other climate conditions, the HumidX waterless humidification is recommended.
- HumidX and HumidX Plus can be used only with the N20 connector for AirMini and the AirFit P10 for AirMini
- Both HumidX and HumidX Plus must be replaced 30 days after opening the package.
AirMini Comfort features
AirMini features several comfort features that you can use to enjoy a more comfortable and compliant therapy session. For example, Ramp Time allows you to fall asleep upon a gentler pressure. When the time is up, the machine will gradually return to the prescribed pressure levels so that you will receive indicated pressure levels and therapy.
Then, pressure relief is also available on the AirMini. EPR- or Expiratory Pressure Relief is a premium comfort feature which enhances the comfort levels during CPAP therapy. The EPR helps reducing the CPAP pressure upon exhalation on a breath-by-breath basis. Therefore, patients can become quickly therapy compliant and will accept CPAP therapy much quicker thanks to this comfort feature.
SmartStart is yet another comfort feature that will help you become quickly therapy compliant. When SmartStart is enabled, you can actually start your therapy by simply taking a breath and the machine will start delivering required therapy.
AirMini App- keep control of your therapeutic session
The AirMini machine is designed to work with the AirMini App. You can easily and quickly download your application on iTunes or Google Play (IOS and Android smart devices respectively). The AirMini app represents a personal sleep therapy assistant, and it allows you to make changes to the comfort settings or view therapy data with a few clicks.
- Manage everything on your smart device- including Start / Stop of your therapy with the AirMini
- Sleep Tracking feature- receive daily stats regarding AirMini usage hours, events per hour or mask seal. These statistics are all recorded for you to view after you wake up
- Personal dashboard- the most recent therapy session snapshot will be available on your dashboard so that you can easily view all important therapeutic data
- Adjustable comfort settings – Ramp Time, SmartStart, EPR. Please keep in mind that therapy pressure will be set by your medical provider.
- Easily connect to your AirMini machine using Bluetooth technology
AirMini by ResMed has been designed to work as a fully integrated system. All you need to do is select a compatible mask and a setup pack that will match with your AirMini device. Regardless of where you are travelling, your comfortable sleep therapy goes with you.
Here’s how you can setup your AirMini device easily:

The AiMini special Mount System will also help you secure your CPAP to various points such as the bedframe, the walls or the airplane seat pocket. The ResMed AirMini is a great CPAP machine and I will try to answer your questions the best I can.
1. First let me say that I use the ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP full time myself. ResMed did not submit the unit for consideration by Medicare or private insurance because the acquisition cost by the merchant is to expensive to make it profitable to provide through any insurance. Insurance and Medicare pay the same thing for the cheapest CPAP Machine made or the best made.So to be straight to the point the HME cannot afford to provide it to you under insurance reimbursement.
2. Unless you are very sensitive to noise it will not bother you. The AirFit F20 Full Face mask is the loudest and the AirFit P10 Nasal Pillows the quietest. People are so use to the entire system being silent now days they forget that just a few years ago you sounded like Darth Vader when on a CPAP system. Bottom line it is not loud if you are a old time CPAP user and if a new user give it a few days and you will not notice it. Remember your bed partner will not hear anything.
3. Tubing is of excellent quality. It is sturdier than what normally comes with the AirSense 10. If you pull any CPAP hose by the tubing it will tear at the cuffs. Always remove your hose by removing holding the cuffs.
4. If you do not use humidification no need to put a disk in the AirMini. I have never used a disk since I started using the CPAP in May 2017 upon release.
If you have additional questions I will be glad to address them.
Jim
I am looking into the ResMed AirMini. Looking at various reviews, including this site, I have a few questions:
– if it is OK to use full time, why is it not covered by Insurance companies (to be honest I haven’t checked with mine, but many users have said it isn’t covered)
– I have seen time and again complaints about the noise, saying it comes from the humidifier area connection. I noticed Charles saying on Aug 16, that it is within the mask and not heard by others – what about the users who are complaining so much, they obviously hear it regardless of where it comes from.
– If the noise is just in the mask, is one mask/nasal plugs better than another for noise?
– I have seen at least one issue with the tubing not being resilient and tearing. Having to be replaced several times.
– I have been on CPAP for 20 plus years and used humidification maybe 7-10 nights total. What are the recommendations for the AirMini running without the humidifier disc?
Thank you

Thank you for your questions. I am a user of the ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP so I will answer your questions from a user’s view as well as a professional view.
1. You can trow this machine around and it will not damage it. I myself put the machine on the side of the bed between the bed and the nightstand. Some people even put it in the bed with them and other do as you said and place it on the nightstand. Regardless the machien has a 2 year warranty and ResMed will honer it for any reason.
2. It will work at any angle. This is not a problem.
3. We sell a DC adapter for the ResMed AirMini CPAP.
4. You can purchase this great AirMini mount system that should solve those problems. You will find it at the following link: https://sleeprestfully.com/Mount-System-for-AirMini-Travel-CPAP-Machine
5. The AirMini does not come with a battery. You can purchase a battery compatible with the AirMini that will last 1 to 2 nights.
If you have any additional quests We are glad to assist you.
Ed
Some basic questions:
1. I would be concerned that this machine is so light that I would be pulling it off the nightstand as I twist and turn. A problem?
2. Does it need to sit flat to operate, or will it work at any angle? So if I use the battery and use this is a car, can I just keep it in my lap?
3. Is there a way to plug it into a car lighter?
4. Is there a strap of some kind to hang this on a nightstand or around my neck so it doesn’t crash to the floor in a car or reclicing chair?
5. How long will the battery last at a pressure of 16? How long to recharge the battery?
Thanks.

We have heard the same thing many time however I sleep 365 days a year with the ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP and have not had an issue with noise. The noise from the AirMini CPAP machine is not from the humidifier disc as you suggest it and is not heard by someone next to you. The noise is in the mask and cause by the high velocity blower.
Dennis
Don’t tell my wife see doesn’t hear the Airmini. It keeps her up everytime I try to use it. My sister-in-law complained that I was keeping her up in the room next to us on a resent vacation. This thing is LOUD! LOUD! LOUD! I can’t sleep with it and I am hearing impaired. I won’t use it any more until they find a way to quiet it down.
Charles Goldberg
You need to contact where you got it from as it should not be making the noise you state. ResMed offers a 2 year warranty and will replace your ArMini.
Ana
I purchased the air mini last year but have stopped using it. The air flow is so loud, it interrupts my sleep. I could do without the humidifier disc, which i think is the issue. any thoughts on making a new mask/tube that is quieter? I’d really like to be able to use this machine since it cost a pretty penny.
Jim Orlando
Thanks, my new prescription is for an auto-CPAP. I’m looking at different options.
Jim Orlando
If you are using the AirMini with nose pillows, is the HumidX as effective as with the mask that covers both nose and mouth? I currently use the nose pillows on my old VPAP machine.
Charles Goldberg
I think I need to answer more than you asked on this one. If you are currently using a VPAP machine the Resmed AirMini is NOT compatible. A Resmed VPAP is a BiLevel like a BiPAP machine meaning it controls the inhalation and exhalation. The ResMed AirMini is a Auto CPAP machine meaning it only controls inhalation. You need to be careful that you use the sleep therapy machine prescribed for you.
Secondly, the HumidX provides some humidification to your sleep therapy treatment. It has nothing to do with the type of mask you use. If you are a mouth breather you need a full face mask.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Charles Goldberg
If you are having a problem while on the ResMed AirMini try to use a little nasal saline nasal spray before going to bed. This should be a great help to you.
